How do we bring forward the awareness that common assumptions of economy and finance are old codes that can change, much the same way one changes or corrects a belief system?

Politicians and professionals alike are since ages conditioned to assumed conventions of economy to the degree that the fundamentals of the paradigm are rarely questioned. How do we move towards breaking the failing assumptions and showing that new ways are not only possible but essential?
